Soji’s Virtual Genjokoan Summer Sesshin
June 18-23, 2021
Genjokoan — what does it mean? Gen means to show up or to be in the present moment. It can also be a noun for something unseen that now can be present in the moment and can be a manifestation or verb actualization of something potential into something actual. Ko of the word koan means “to be public” to be public in the context means to equalize inequality. It can also refer to the equality of all things (ko) and to the uniqueness of each and every being. Our study text for the sesshin will be Maezumi Roshi’s book, Way of Everyday Life: Zen Master Dogen’s Genjokoan. Please join us for the opportunity of sesshin to study and delve deeper into practice by being in the present moment. We will have a Jukai Ceremony on June 22, 2021 at 7:00 pm where three Soji Sangha members will be taking the precepts. See registration details below.
