Soji Winter Sesshin
December 26-31, 2024
If mind does not discriminate, all things are as they are, as One. To go to this mysterious source frees us from all entanglements.
Please join us for our year-end sesshin, a time of deep and gathered silent meditation, an opportunity for immersive residential practice in darkness and light as we move through the winter solstice and approach the beginning of a new year.
Our study text will be The Five Ranks of Zen, Tozan’s Path of Being, Nonbeing & Compassion by Gerry Shishin Wick. In each day of our life, at every moment, we encounter the heart of being in ourselves and the world. It is at the same time ordinary and extraordinary, sacred and profane. Seeing the truth of this great mystery and coming to a place of being one with it – with all of it – takes effort and practice. Tozan’s Five Ranks or five positions offer us a profound and universally revered Zen teaching that can help us to function freely right in the middle of the challenges of life as it is, the world as it is.
