Community Drumming Workshop

Come and join us for a day of community drumming at Soji Zen Center! In their book, Instructions to the Cook, Bernie Glassman and Rick Fields highlight Zen Master Dogen’s guidance of using whatever ingredients you have on hand in order to create the supreme meal. In this workshop, we will use whatever skills we have on hand to create the supreme ensemble—no experience necessary. We will learn to use what comes to us naturally, paired with some basic instruction, in order to create our own music!

This workshop will be facilitated by Christopher Hakurei Kulp, a long-time student of Soji Zen Center and music teacher in Upper Darby elementary schools since 2001. Hakurei has also worked as a freelance percussionist, performing with several different musical groups in the greater Philadelphia area.

The suggested donation for this in-person event is $30 for members and $35 for non-members.
