Suchness: No Separation
A Meditative Workshop
Saturday, May 23
10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Ninth century Zen master Dongshan Liangjie’s “Song of the Jewel Mirror Samadhi” conveys the subtle nature of “suchness” as intimate, experiential, and unique to each person. This meditative workshop, facilitated by current shuso and long-time practitioner Robbie KoKai Berge, presents a unique opportunity to explore the luminous qualities of suchness by opening a space of genuine inquiry into the theme of non-separation. Participants will be guided through a variety of mindful activities inspired by Dongshan’s powerful teaching poem, including seated meditation, watercolor painting, and experiential mirror work. Registrants are encouraged to read Song of the Jewel Mirror Samadhi prior to the workshop; like a song, the more you visit it, the more open and profound it becomes.
This workshop will take place at Soji Zen Center and is available for in-person attendance only. The suggested donation is $30 for members and $35 for non-members. To attend, please complete the registration form no later than May 20. Payment can be made in cash or check (made payable to “Soji: Dedicated to the Study of Soto Zen Buddhism”) or through PayPal. If you have any questions, please contact us.
